Shelton State Terrific Tuesday Concert Series Hosts Ruth Washington Mayhew

Shelton State Community College’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series will host Ruth Washington Mayhew on Tuesday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the Martin Campus Alabama Power Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. 

 Ruth Washington Mayhew is currently a DMA student studying with Dr. Diane Boyd Schultz at the University of Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Music from Lawrence University and her Master of Music from Northwestern University. She has performed in many orchestras, most notably the North Carolina Symphony, the Naples/Marco Philharmonic, and the Greater Palm Beach Symphony. She was principal flute of Symphony ProMusica for twelve years while living outside Boston. She currently substitutes quite often with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in Florida. She recently moved from San Diego where she was on the faculty at University of San Diego and taught band in the San Diego Unified School District.

Shelton State’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series is designed to showcase a variety of repertory styles.  Weekly performances are offered by guest artists as well as Shelton State faculty and students.
