“In light of the current COVID-19 outbreak with gatherings and social distancing guidelines, and in consideration for the health and safety of our veterans, our military families, and loved ones, PARA and Association members believe it is the right thing to do,” PARA said in a release of the decision to delay the program.
Plans are in the works to hold a joint Memorial Day and Veterans Day Program on Nov. 11.
Col. Duane Lamb, president of the Veterans Memorial Park Association, said flags will be placed in memory of veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
“We encourage the community to feel free to visit our beautiful park during the day and remember our veterans’ courage and sacrifice,” Lamb said. “It is our Memorial Day responsibility to never forget.”
