Shelton State Community College’s Bass Fishing Sports Club is making the sport’s inaugural year at the College a success. The team is currently ranked 11th in the nation.
The West Alabama Regional Autism Network at The University of Alabama will hold “Autism 101,” its first community outreach event for 2019, Tuesday, Feb. 12.
Instead of spending a semester studying for tests, senior public relations students at the University of Alabama were tasked with raising awareness and funds to alleviate childhood food insecurity with Secret Meals for Hungry Children. With the Tuscaloosa community’s support, the resulting event raised enough money to feed 19 children every weekend for an entire school year.
All 19 of The University of Alabama’s Panhellenic Association’s sororities, plus one National Pan-Hellenic Council sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, are coming together from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday to host the first “Holly Jolly Holiday on Sorority Row.”

The 7th Annual Schoolyard Roots Garden Party will be held on Nov. 11 at the Tuscaloosa River Market. From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees can sample fresh, delicious food from 18 local farmers, 16 restaurants, and three breweries. Local musicians will provide live music, and guests can bid on art provided by local artists.
The 25th annual Beat Auburn, Beat Hunger food drive kicked off Monday, Oct. 1, at The University of Alabama and will run through Nov. 15. The drive collects food donations for the West Alabama Food Bank.
Children’s of Alabama honored The University of Alabama Dance Marathon program today for donating more than $1 million to the hospital over a seven-year period by presenting the organization with a recognition plaque on the Pillars of the Community display in the hospital.
Krystal recently reopened its McFarland Boulevard location – a new prototype store with enhanced drive-through functionality. It’s the first Krystal of its kind in Alabama. Now, the company is giving back to the community.
