“We are so excited to have Super 7 back in Tuscaloosa this year,” Staley said. “Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama look forward to hosting some of the best young athletes in the state, and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.”
Each December, over the course of three days, the final two teams from each of Alabama’s seven classifications (1A through 7A) compete to be crowned as the new state champions. The event draws massive crowds. In 2016, the Super 7 was held in Auburn University’s Jordan-Hare Stadium (the event rotates between Tuscaloosa and Auburn each year). A record crowd of over 49,000 attended.
