Hillcrest High School Army Junior ROTC competed in the Marine League 5K on February 18. Cadet Cory Facio won the Overall Male Winner, Cadet Preston Reynolds took second place, and Cadet Miles Harrison won third place. Caitlyn Sanders won the Overall Female Race.

Paul W. Bryant High School has been selected as a 2016 Banner School by the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS).
The award is given each year to ten schools or programs that serve as outstanding educational models for other schools in Alabama. For this year’s awards, over 150 schools applied for this prestigious honor.
Learning isn’t limited to just the regular school year, and one local school is working to ensure that great, young minds continue to grow and learn – even over summer break.
Students at the Capitol School in Tuscaloosa are attending two-week Summer Explorations sessions designed to stimulate minds and engage. The sessions are for children ages 3-18, and are split into morning and afternoon sessions.
