Navigating the holidays means dodging stress.  Season induced stress is all around us.  Lines at the mall, blaring commercials telling you what items you need and want, buying the perfect gift, sending the perfect card, decorating, baking, hosting the perfect party or attending events or maybe being alone and feeling lost.  The holiday season creates stress for many of us.  Managing holiday stress is important.

Meet sweet Samantha – she is this week’s Humane Society of West Alabama Pet of the Week, and she really needs a home. Samantha came to the HSWA when her owner went into a nursing home. She was a much-loved pet.

More than 250 people attended a luncheon honoring retired Army Captain Gary M. Rose, Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, on Dec. 4, at the Tuscaloosa River Market. The luncheon was sponsored by the Association of the United States Army, West/Central Alabama Chapter.

Our area is under a winter storm warning through midnight tonight, and at the moment, the snow continues to fall throughout parts of west and central Alabama. On Friday morning, the snow was beginning to accumulate – and the National Weather Service indicated that some spots could see two inches. Road problems were minimal, but if you don’t have to be out, stay home.
