New Year … new me! If that’s part of your motto for 2018, your New Year’s resolution might include a little something to do with your eating habits. More often than not, many of my clients feel like “starting to eat healthy” means becoming a hermit who can never go out to eat again. But guess what? Tuscaloosa has an impressive selection of restaurants that are both delicious and nutritious.

Chick-Fil-A

Interested in making healthier choices this year? How about Chick-Fil-A? You might be thinking, “Umm what? This is fast food?!” And yes, you’re completely correct. As one of the most popular restaurants in Tuscaloosa, Chick-Fil-A prides itself in having a great selection of options for patrons to choose from. As with many fast food restaurants, CFA displays nutrition information on the menu and can accommodate those needing to eliminate gluten from their diet.

Northport Chick-Fil-A owner and operator Ashley Gill says that many customers often choose Chick-Fil-A due to the variety of healthy menu items available.

“I eat Chick-Fil-A everyday. It’s nice to know that I can make healthy choices with our salads or grilled nuggets and fruit. Our gluten-free bun has allowed more people to enjoy our delicious sandwiches, while also maintaining specific dietary restrictions,” said Gill.

Zoe’s Kitchen

Have you decided to go low-carb or try a paleo lifestyle for the New Year? Zoe’s 2017 rollout of new Mediterranean options has people going crazy … in a good way! Cauliflower rice bowls, Greek salads, roasted veggies, and kebobs speak for themselves.

If you need a little more convincing, area catering sales manager Shanda Nicholson claims that customers come in every day raving about the menu.

“Our customers value the fact that we offer a variety of delicious and healthy options that are prepared with the best ingredients and are filling for the soul,” said Nicholson.

Feeding the whole family? Zoe’s has you covered with several kid meal options and family meals to take home and enjoy together.

Frutta Bowls

Got a resolution to get more fruits and veggies in your diet? What about getting in that important post-workout nutrition your body needs? Frutta Bowls offers all of the above.

Frutta Bowls co-owner Samantha Giambalvo says that her shop aims to provide quality ingredients and a well-trained and educated staff that can help customers choose the best bowl for their health needs.

“We have fresh fruit delivered almost daily, and the acai company that we work with is the fastest from farm to consumer in the market. Many of our clients use our products as a meal replacement, or pre-and post-workout nutrition,” said Giambalvo.

Whether you’re following a specific diet program or just trying to eat healthier in general, Tuscaloosa has a variety of restaurants that you can enjoy while staying on task with your health goals. Always feel comfortable asking your favorite restaurants if they can do modifications, and at the end of the day, remember everything is healthy in moderation!
