New Holt High School Set to Open Next Month Tuscaloosa County School System

The Tuscaloosa County School System is excited to announce the new Holt High School will open for its first day of classes on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Although the current timeline called for the school to open in January 2019, in a release, TCSS officials said construction has moved at a pace that will allow for an earlier opening date.

The existing Holt High School was built in 1944. The new Holt High School is built for a capacity of more than 500 students. It includes a career tech center, band/choral/fine arts classrooms, media center, administrative and counseling suites, and more.

To prepare for the Nov. 13 opening, the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education has approved Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 as a non-attendance day for Holt High School students. Classes will not be held, and students should not report to campus on this day. Holt High School faculty and staff will report to work on Nov. 9, using the time to prepare for the opening of the new school. The non-attendance day applies to Holt High students only.

Following the Monday, Nov. 12 Veterans Day holiday, Holt High School students will report to the new school on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The new school is located at 301 44th Ct NE in Holt. Holt High students and families will receive more information about the transition to the new school prior to opening day.
