Patrons can check out and return materials, but returns are only allowed at the outside collection bins at the front entrance. Curbside pickup is also available.
“We’re extremely happy to be open again, even if it is with limited services,” said Vince Bellofatto, TPL’s director of communications and public relations. “The safety and well-being of the patrons and our staff are our top priority, so safety guidelines have been implemented to help create a secure environment.”
The number of patrons allowed inside the library will be limited to 30 at a time, patrons are encouraged to wear masks and to maintain a six-foot distance from others inside the building. Additionally, library staff asks that patrons choose materials in a timely manner. Protective barriers have been installed at all the library’s service desks.
“The first few weeks have run smoothly, and patrons have been very pleased,” Bellofatto said.
Patrons won’t be allowed to use the computers, online computer catalogs, upstairs copier, printers, phones, faxing services, Rotary Room, or Local History Room. The first-floor copier is open.
For now, the Friends of the Library bookstore remains closed, but donations are being accepted by appointment. Call (205) 722-5208 and leave a message.
