Each year, the Community Foundation of West Alabama recognizes area citizens for their life’s contribution to the West Alabama area with its Pillars classes. The 2020 class of Pillars honorees were set to be recognized at a special dinner over the summer. Now, the CFWA has announced that in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the dinner has been rescheduled for Oct. 1.

This year marks the 17th year of the Pillars of West Alabama program. The 2020 class of honorees includes:

  • Cliff and Mary Louise Armstrong (posthumously)
  • Sam P. Faucett, III
  • Richard Holland and the late Rebecca Ann Holland
  • Amos Hubbard
  • Clyde Marine
  • Doug Phillips
  • John Pradat

The CFWA was established in 1999 and continues to serve West Alabama as a charitable savings account for the West Alabama community. In the 20-year existence of the Foundation, almost $20 million has been given to local charities. The Pillars program seeks to honor citizens who have meant so much to the development of West Alabama.
