Leadership Tuscaloosa Kicks Off “Duffle Drive” for Foster Children

The Leadership Tuscaloosa Class of 2020’s community service project is underway – with the goal of helping local foster children. The “Duffle Drive” strives to supply and pack 150 duffle bags for foster kids in the area by March 10.

Approximately 6,000 children enter the foster care system in Alabama each year.  Many of those children pack their belongings in garbage bags while leaving the only home they have ever known.  Donations collected by Leadership Tuscaloosa will be used to support the Alabama Foster & Adoptive Parent Association’s mission of providing every child in foster care a proper bag to use during the relocation process.

Something as simple as a duffle bag can make a huge difference by giving these kids a sense of normalcy in an unstable environment.  Not everyone can foster a child, but everyone can do something to support foster children.

A single $50 donation sponsors one duffle bag with essential items for a child. Donations may also include zippered diaper bags and large backpacks.

Donation drop off locations, and detailed information, can be found at duffledrive.com or through the Duffle Drive Facebook page.  For additional information, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
