The Arc Executive Director Delshonda Thomas says proceeds from the T-Town Witches Ride will benefit The Arc of Tuscaloosa County and the individuals it serves in the community.
“Transportation is one The Arc’s largest expenses and the biggest barrier to employment for the individuals we serve,” Thomas said. “Our famous slogan is ‘We ride so they can ride.’”
The witches will fly on their decorative “broomcycles” on Sunday, Oct. 13 during the second annual T-Town Witches Ride. This year, organizers have added a one-mile walk for non-riding witches and their children. Family and friends are encouraged to line the sidewalks to view the parade of witches.
The two-mile bicycle ride and the one-mile walk will begin and end at Government Plaza. In addition, there will be entertainment, a kids’ zone, prizes, and awards for winners. Awards will be given out for the Best Dressed Witch, Best Broomcycle, Best Group Theme, and Best Dressed Child. Local businesses will donate prizes.
- Registration is $25. Participants are encouraged to pre-register online or in person at The Arc of Tuscaloosa County. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Government Plaza and the ride will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Oct.13.
- There will be a Pre-Party sponsored by Moe’s Original BBQ and Heat Pizza. Tickets are $25 and include food, beer, and wine.
- There will be a post party, The T-Town Witches “Brew” Ha Ha at River (restaurant). Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple and must be purchased in advance. There will be live entertainment, food, and a cash bar.
The Arc of Tuscaloosa County, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are 21 years of age or older and reside in the Tuscaloosa Community.
