On Thursday, Oct. 18, FOCUS On Recovery hosted its largest annual fundraising event. This year, the gala was themed “An Evening of Art Focused on Recovery” – and it included a silent auction featuring an array of original art works from various local artists as well as FOCUS residents.

Proceeds raised by the event surpassed last year, making this its most successful gala to date. Profits will go toward funding FOCUS On Recovery’s long-term transitional program for women in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse.

This Gala was FOCUS On Recovery’s first evening event and replaced the nonprofit’s annual Spirit of Recovery Luncheon. Guests were treated to a remarkable evening hosted at Park Crest Event Facility. While being entertained by the sounds of Steel City Prophets, attendees strolled throughout the venue enjoying the works of art, dining at the numerous food stations (courtesy of renowned Chef Darryl Borden) and participating in several “interactive” art displays.

“The FOCUS Gala ‘An Evening of Art Focused on Recovery’ was extremely successful and certainly a night to remember,” said Jackie Batson, Focus On Recovery’s executive director. “We attribute much of our success to overwhelming community support, our dedicated sponsors and our active board members. I am certain next year will be even bigger and better.”
