Family Fun Day to Raise Diabetes Awareness Planned

About 1.25 million Americans have type 1 diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association. And another 40,000 will be newly diagnosed this year alone. The need for research is great, and an upcoming community event is being held to help.

A free Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Randall-Reilly in Tuscaloosa to help raise awareness about type 1 diabetes. Randall-Reilly and JDRF are sponsoring the event. JDRF is a non-profit organization that funds type 1 diabetes research directed to finding a cure, managing the disease, and preventing it.

Organizers say Family Fun Day will be a great chance for everyone in the area to connect and enjoy a day of food, music, games, and more.

Family Fun Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Randall-Reilly, located at 3200 Rice Mine Road NE.
