If you’ve never had the chance to participate or watch teams of people attempt to pull a 44,000-pound fire truck, now’s your chance. On Saturday, March 24, teams of 10 people will compete to see who can pull a Tuscaloosa Fire Truck a length of 50 feet. Trophies will be awarded in four categories: fastest pull, slowest pull, most enthusiastic and the team that raises the most money for The Arc.

Proceeds from the event benefit The Arc of Tuscaloosa County – an organization that helps improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Monetary donations are tax deductible.

Organizers say this day is much more than fundraising.

“This event is about community involvement and awareness. Bystanders cheer as they watch their favorite team pull for a victory, taking pictures and videos,” said Anda Robbins of The ARC. “Most of the teams are dressed in costumes to add to the excitement. There will be live music for entertainment and a dancing competition during intermission. It’s fun for all ages, including Big Al.”

The 4th Annual Fire Truck Pull is free to the public. This event will be in the University Mall overflow parking lot – close to Target. There will be fire trucks, ambulances, and helicopters, along with bouncy houses, and more.  Expect a few surprises this year.

The Arc provides employment, day habilitation and in-home services to approximately 250 adults (21 and older) in the Tuscaloosa, Bibb, and Pickens counties.

For more information, and for registration packets, call Anda Robbins at (205) 556-4900.
