Hurricane Relief Drive Underway: The American Red Cross of Shelton State Needs Donations

The American Red Cross of Shelton State is holding a hurricane relief drive through Friday, Nov. 10. Donations will be included in “comfort kits.” They’ll be delivered to victims of the recent hurricanes.

Brock Cunningham is a Shelton State Community College student and a member of the American Red Cross of Shelton State. He says the hurricane relief drive, which began on Monday, is about giving back to those in need.

“Empathy allows us to connect with one another on a deeper level, reminding us of the human experience we each share,” said Cunningham. “Helping those in need, even in small ways, brings out the humanity we all have within us and shows that we have the ability to come together not only as individuals, but as a whole to help those in need inside or outside of our community.”

Requested items for donation include eight-ounce bottled water, one-gallon Ziploc bags, lotion, deodorant, shampoo, hair combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, wash cloths, soap, razors, and shaving cream.

All items may be delivered to drop-off locations in the Shelton State Martin Campus Atrium and in the main building at the Fredd Campus.
