Northport to Honor Citizen of the Year on Oct. 3 Laurie Perrigin

Northport’s Citizen of the Year will be honored on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The dinner, which will be held at Five Points Baptist Church, recognizes those individuals who have contributed to the betterment of Northport.

This annual event, presented by Tuscaloosa Hyundai/Genesis of Tuscaloosa and sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, recognizes exceptional achievement.

This year's guest speaker is Trudy Cathy White, daughter of Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy and wife Jeannette. Trudy and her husband John are co-founders of Lifeshape, Inc. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Glen Taylor and the Bluegrass Fiddlers, and the $30 ticket price includes dinner from Robertson's BBQ.  Alabama State Secretary John Merrill will serve as Emcee.

The deadline to register to attend is Thursday, Sept. 28. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, and the presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, click here.

Last Year’s Northport Citizen of the Year

Ashley Gill, owner and operator of Chick-fil-A Northport, was named Northport Citizen of the Year in 2016. Others honored last year included Joe Hardy (Business Leader), Catherine Kiser Hocutt (Education Leader), Bruce Davis Sr. (Historian/Pioneer); Manuel Jiminez (Public Safety Leader) and Rusty Selman (Religious Leader).
