Tuscaloosa Native Larry Snyder received the 2018 Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Veteran of the Year Award at the Alabama State Convention of the VVA.
Luke Standeffer, senior vice president of the DCH Health System and administrator of Northport Medical Center, was recently named chair-elect of the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA). The election was made at the Association’s annual meeting.
Tuscaloosa resident and Wells Fargo team member Devon Averett received the Patriot Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Nicolas Britto presented the award to Averett during a ceremony held on Jan. 31.
The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama recognized top volunteers for 2017 during its 117th annual celebration, presented on Friday, Jan. 19 by The University of Alabama at the Bryant Conference Center.
Tuscaloosa’s Tabitha Bostick was awarded the 2017 AAF District 7 Governor’s Award at the American Advertising District 7 Leadership Conference recently held in Tuscaloosa. Top ad professionals from five states cheered Bostick as she was named the recipient of the honored service award.
Kayla Boone-Davis may not have been teaching as long as most of her co-workers, but there is no doubt she has already made her mark. This will be her third year teaching first grade at Flatwoods Elementary School.

The Community Foundation of West Alabama will honor its annual community Pillars of West Alabama class this Thursday, June 22 at the Indian Hills Country Club. The meal begins at 6 p.m. with the awards ceremony to follow.
“The CFWA was only five years old and looking for some way to help publicize the foundation,” said Glenn Taylor, the organization’s president. “The idea was to have an annual event recognizing people who have meant so much to making West Alabama a great place to live. Dr. John Blackburn came up with the idea, and it has really grown each year.”
